When warm weather rolls in, bugs often come out and want to get into your home. They are automatically drawn to window screens, especially when the screens are open. It is more than likely that you will need to spray your screens on a daily basis. Especially during the heavy bug season. The season is during the spring and summer months. If you aren't happy with the bug spray that you are using, you can try natural alternatives. One of them in citronella oil. Many bugs hate the smell of citronella oil and will leave it alone, along with your screens. Just apply the oil to a paper towel and apply it to a window. You can also put some drops in a spray bottle and spray it on the screens. This can keep bugs off of your screens
Just be careful that you don't get it on your hands. The oil is difficult to wash off. There are also citronella candles that are also useful. Just place those on outdoor furniture where you hang out or close to where windows are located.
Deter Bugs From Coming Around
You can also keep bugs from coming into your home by deterring them altogether. One of the ways is to not keep any open trash or food near your home.
This means do not leave any pet food outside when it is night time. This will attract bugs to your home. Also, be sure to keep lids on all of your outside garbage cans and recycling bins.
It is also a good idea to not keep any cardboard or wood close to your home. These items attract pests like carpenter ants and spiders.
Some insects are drawn to your house due to their natural habitat. A lot of bugs live in trees and bushes. It is a good idea to keep these away from your home as well.
